The 2006 World Solar Rally in Taiwan invites solar car teams around the world to compete and experience the beautiful landscape and culture of Taiwan.

The race will be held this summer in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The 2006 World Solar Rally is held in advance of The World Games in 2009. It is the first time that such a symbolic event is organized by Taiwan.

Students and scientists all over the world will assemble in Taiwan with their solar cars. The race offers an opportunity for teams to demonstrate their countriesĦĤ technological achievements. Through this event, countries will be able to exchange and cooperate on the research and development of renewable energies.

The 2006 World Solar Rally in Taiwan will demonstrate the applications of renewable energies in our daily lives. Not only will some of these applications alleviate the concerns with limited resources, but they can be utilized to protect the natural environment. Through this kind of international competition, we will be able to showcase the unique culture and beauty of Taiwan.

Although Taiwan is a small island, it is filled with buildings and structures that captures our world view and inspire wonder. There are many engineering marvels, such as the Taipei 101ĦXcurrently the tallest building in the world; and KaohsiungĦĤs 85-story building.

The exciting route that will be traveled will lead teams past landmarks and cultural destinations including the Shueishang Tropic of Cancer Park in Chia-yi, Lukang Tienhou Temple in Changhua, Da-Jai as Jenlan Temple in Taichung, Chulu Pasture in Taitung, and Fong Kong in Pintong.
